The number of people traveling across China by air, rail, road and/or waterways over the five-day Labor Day holiday that ended yesterday surged more than two-and-a-half times from the same period last year, as travel becomes a favorite activity once more following the lifting of the country’s zero-Covid policy, according to the latest data.

Over 270 million people headed out over the break, which lasted from April 29 to May 3, equivalent to an average of 54 million travelers a day, according to the Ministry of Transport.

Domestic tourism revenues jumped to 101 percent of pre-pandemic levels, reaching 148 billion yuan during the “golden week” holiday.

People traveling by air over the long weekend soared six-times from a year earlier to 9.4 million passengers per day on average, while those who took the train surged over five-and-a-half-fold to 90.8 million people a day. People who travelled by boat jumped 114.2 percent to 6.8 million and those who drove themselves doubled to 163 million.

Many domestic hotspot tourist sites have been operating at maximum capacity, such as the Great Wall in Beijing, the Xi"an City Wall in Xi"an, and the West Lake in Hangzhou, according to travel platform data.Accommodation bookings in popular tourist cities surpassed the pre-virus level by 1.9 times, travel portal Qunar data showed.

Outbound air bookings during the five-day holiday also recovered to 45 percentof the levels during the same holidays in pre-pandemic 2019, according to data from Qunar on Wednesday. Bangkok in Thailand, Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, Singapore, and China"s Hong Kong and Macao SARs were among the hot destinations, the data showed.

While the bustling tourism sector has fueled a considerable surge in demand growth, people who chose to stay at home have opted to dine out, watch movies and enjoy entertainment activities, which all fan the flames of full-fledged consumption acceleration.

According to data released by the Ministry of Commerce, sales of major retail and catering enterprises jumped 18.9 percent from a year earlier during the holiday. And key food chains saw revenues uptick by 57.9 percent year-on-year.

Data from food delivery platform Meituan showed that in the first three days of the May Day holidays, the online daily consumption volume mushroomed 133 percent compared with 2019.

Moreover, the long break also witnessed a surge in the number of moviegoers. China"s box office amassed around 1.52 billion yuan over the five-day period, recording the third highest-grossing May Day holiday, according to film data platform Maoyan.

5月3日，去哪兒、途牛、馬蜂窩、同程旅行、攜程、飛豬等OTA公司發(fā)布的2023年五一假期旅游總結(jié)報(bào)告顯示，國(guó)內(nèi)景區(qū)門(mén)票量同比增長(zhǎng)9倍、跟團(tuán)游大增11倍、跨省酒店預(yù)訂占比超七成等，諸多數(shù)據(jù)顯示“五一”假期國(guó)內(nèi)游火爆。

民航市場(chǎng)也呈現(xiàn)強(qiáng)勁復(fù)蘇態(tài)勢(shì)，量?jī)r(jià)齊升。據(jù)攜程旗下FlightAi市場(chǎng)洞察平臺(tái)數(shù)據(jù)顯示，今年“五一”期間，國(guó)內(nèi)航班架次超過(guò)8萬(wàn)，日均水平較2019年同期增長(zhǎng)15%左右。今年五一機(jī)票搜索熱度較2019年大漲162%，假期國(guó)內(nèi)單程含稅機(jī)票均價(jià)為1211元，較2019年增長(zhǎng)39%。

鐵路方面，今年五一的火車(chē)票可謂“一票難求”。據(jù)國(guó)鐵集團(tuán)公布的數(shù)據(jù)，4月29日至5月3日，全國(guó)鐵路預(yù)計(jì)發(fā)送旅客9088.1萬(wàn)人次，日均發(fā)送1817.6萬(wàn)人次，比2022年同期增長(zhǎng)464.4%。假期第一天，鐵路迎來(lái)五一假期出行最高峰，全國(guó)鐵路共發(fā)送旅客1966.1萬(wàn)人次，開(kāi)行旅客列車(chē)12064列，單日旅客發(fā)送人數(shù)、旅客列車(chē)開(kāi)行列數(shù)均創(chuàng)歷史新高。

在搶票難、票價(jià)高的背景下，加之假期高速公路小型客車(chē)免費(fèi)通行的政策，不少游客轉(zhuǎn)而選擇自駕出行，據(jù)統(tǒng)計(jì)，五一假期期間，預(yù)計(jì)全國(guó)高速公路流量累計(jì)31045.94萬(wàn)輛，日均6209.19萬(wàn)輛，同比2022年同期增長(zhǎng)101.83%。

另一方面，今年五一是出境團(tuán)隊(duì)游試點(diǎn)恢復(fù)后的首個(gè)長(zhǎng)假。隨著今年以來(lái)入出境政策陸續(xù)放寬，五一假期成為近三年來(lái)出境游規(guī)模最大的小長(zhǎng)假。在同程旅游平臺(tái)上，“五一”期間國(guó)際酒店預(yù)訂量已經(jīng)超過(guò)2019年同期，國(guó)際機(jī)票預(yù)訂量也恢復(fù)至2019年同期水平。去哪兒數(shù)據(jù)顯示，五一期間出境游機(jī)票預(yù)訂量已恢復(fù)至疫情前同期（2019年5月1日-5月4日）的45%。而攜程平臺(tái)的數(shù)據(jù)顯示，從整體訂單量來(lái)看，五一內(nèi)地出境游整體訂單量較去年同期增長(zhǎng)近700%，出境機(jī)票、酒店訂單量分別較2022年同期增長(zhǎng)近900%、近450%。

距離較近的亞洲國(guó)家和地區(qū)是內(nèi)地出境旅客的首選，攜程機(jī)票平臺(tái)近70%的出境意向集中在東南亞地區(qū)。據(jù)各平臺(tái)統(tǒng)計(jì)，中國(guó)香港、中國(guó)澳門(mén)以及泰國(guó)、新加坡、馬來(lái)西亞、日本、韓國(guó)等目的地最受游客青睞。其中多地的機(jī)票、酒店訂單均超過(guò)2019年五一假期水平。

而電影“五一檔”則呈現(xiàn)弱復(fù)蘇局面。截至5月4日凌晨，貓眼專業(yè)版數(shù)據(jù)顯示，今年電影“五一檔”票房15.18億元，不敵2021年的16.73億元與2019年的15.27億元。居歷史前三。

The Fuxing bullet train is expected to run on the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, China Railway Qinghai-Tibet Group Co said on Tuesday. The development will follow the upgrading of the railway, as the section from Xining to Golmud in Northwest China"s Shaanxi Province will be finished within this year.The running time for this section, which is 829 kilometers long, will be cut by two hours to 4.8 hours.

“復(fù)興號(hào)”將駛上青藏鐵路：5月3日，中國(guó)鐵路青藏集團(tuán)有限公司消息，青藏鐵路提質(zhì)升級(jí)已進(jìn)入攻堅(jiān)階段，西寧至格爾木段預(yù)計(jì)在今年全部完成升級(jí)，該段829.251千米線路的運(yùn)行時(shí)間，將縮短至5.2小時(shí)以內(nèi)，最短為4.8小時(shí)，較現(xiàn)狀最快列車(chē)的6.8小時(shí)縮短了近2小時(shí)。提質(zhì)工程結(jié)束后，“復(fù)興號(hào)”將開(kāi)上青藏鐵路，屆時(shí)其運(yùn)輸能力和服務(wù)質(zhì)量都將得到大幅躍升。

Guizhou Province completed more than 8.07 billion yuan of investment in big data during the first quarter this year, said local authorities on Wednesday. Among the total investment, approximately 1.5 billion yuan was for channelling more computing resources from China"s eastern regions to its less developed yet resource-rich western regions, said the provincial big data development administration bureau. As of the end of March, 10 large and eight ultra-large data centers had settled in Guizhou. Notably, the total server carrying capacity in the 18 data centers had exceeded 2.25 million units.

A long-awaited scheme for Hong Kong’s private vehicles to travel across the border to the mainland via a mega bridgewill open for applicationson June 1. Known as “Northbound Travel for Hong Kong Vehicles”, the scheme will allow residents to drive into Guangdong, while also boosting traffic on the underused Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge. Hong Kong and Guangdong provincial authorities agreed to accept a maximum of 200 applications per working day in the first week of operations and will be increased to 300 from the second week. Motorists with Hong Kong identity cards, home return permits, and mainland driving licenses will be allowed to cross the border using the mega bridge and stay up to 30 consecutive days each time, subject to an annual maximum of 180 days.

“港車(chē)北上"6月起接受申請(qǐng)：香港特區(qū)政府1日公布“港車(chē)北上”實(shí)施安排：從2023年6月1日上午9時(shí)開(kāi)始接受合資格的香港私家車(chē)申請(qǐng)“港車(chē)北上”計(jì)劃，并于7月1日零時(shí)起讓已獲批的香港私家車(chē)經(jīng)港珠澳大橋口岸往來(lái)香港與廣東省。特區(qū)政府發(fā)言人說(shuō)，為確?！案圮?chē)北上”計(jì)劃有序落實(shí)，廣東省政府和香港特區(qū)政府同意在計(jì)劃推出初期就接受申請(qǐng)數(shù)目設(shè)置上限，并將以電腦抽簽方式分配。開(kāi)放申請(qǐng)后首星期每個(gè)工作日接受200個(gè)申請(qǐng)，由第二個(gè)星期起每個(gè)工作日接受300個(gè)申請(qǐng)，之后會(huì)檢視申請(qǐng)情況，逐步提升接受申請(qǐng)數(shù)目。廣東省政府也于當(dāng)日公布“港車(chē)北上”管理辦法。根據(jù)管理辦法，香港車(chē)主只要年滿18周歲、持有港澳居民來(lái)往內(nèi)地通行證，本人名下登記持有1輛香港機(jī)動(dòng)車(chē)（車(chē)長(zhǎng)小于6米且含駕駛?cè)俗粩?shù)不超過(guò)8座的非營(yíng)運(yùn)小型載客汽車(chē)），就可以申請(qǐng)臨時(shí)入境機(jī)動(dòng)車(chē)牌證。香港機(jī)動(dòng)車(chē)在臨時(shí)入境機(jī)動(dòng)車(chē)牌證有效期內(nèi)，可以多次入出內(nèi)地，每次進(jìn)入內(nèi)地后在內(nèi)地連續(xù)停留不得超過(guò)30天，每年累計(jì)不得超過(guò)180天。

Hong Kong"s GDP grew 2.7 percent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2023, ending four consecutive quarters of contractions, led by a strong recovery of inbound tourism and growing local market demand, according to the SAR government on Tuesday. Chief Executive John Lee believed the city"s economy in the second quarter will be even better than the first quarter as faster economic growth in the mainland and the acceleration of the local aviation capacity would provide further support. Meanwhile, over 1.71 million travelers poured into Hong Kong during the Labour Day holiday, with some 625,000 - or around 37 percent of them from the mainland, Immigration Department figures showed.

Chinese new energy vehicle giant BYD was once again the top seller of NEVs among Chinese manufacturers, soaring 94 percent year on year to 210,300 units in April. GAC Aion, the electric car marque of major Chinese automaker GAC Group, ranked second with over 41,000 units sold, up 302 percent. Li Auto saw an over six-fold leap in sales last month, surpassing peers Nio and Xpeng. Li Auto sold 25,681 NEVs in April, setting a new monthly record and ranking first among Chinese NEV startups. Neta Auto, the EV brand under Hozon Auto, logged a 26 percent jump in sales to 11,080 units in April from a year earlier. Meanwhile, Leapmotor Technology saw its sales slide 4 percent to 8,726 units. Geely Holding Group’s electric vehicle brand Zeekr sold 8,101 NEVs, a gain of 279 percent. Xpeng and Nio, who used to be the top startups, sold 7,079 and 6,658 units, respectively. The first reported a 21 percent drop, and the latter a 36 percent increase in sales in the period.

Saudi Arabian oil giant Aramco is reportedly in talks with refining giant Sinopec Corp and French oil major TotalEnergies for a gas deal of about $10 billion. Sinopec and TotalEnergies are in separate discussions to invest in the Jafurah development in Saudi Arabia, the media report said, adding that the plans may include the construction of facilities to export the fuel as liquefied natural gas. Aramco, Sinopec and TotalEnergies did not immediately respond to media requests for comment.

Huayou Cobalt, a leading Chinese cobalt supplier, intends to build another joint venture factory for ternary cathode materials with local partners in South Korea. Huayou has penned a memorandum of understanding with POSCO Future M, a South Korean manufacturer of cathode and anode materials, and the local government for the two firms to invest in a JV in Pohang, the company said in a statement yesterday.

Chinese stocks trimmed an early loss as traders weighed upbeat holiday travel data against a contraction in factory output. The benchmark Shanghai Composite rose 0.8 percent on Thursday, while the Shenzhen Component fell 0.6 percent. Hong Kong stocks also finished with solid gains, with Hang Seng index up 1.3 percent and the TECH index gained 0.6 percent.
